Can I create ransomware-resilient backups with NAKIVO Free Edition?
Yes! Free Edition lets you protect backup data against ransomware with immutable local Linux-based repositories. Create local repositories or deploy them as a part of a pre-configured hardened virtual appliance / Amazon Machine Image. Immutability protects backups from accidental changes and from encryption, deletion and modification by ransomware. This way you can be sure that you have an unaltered backup for ransomware recovery when you need it.
For more advanced ransomware protection capabilities, like backup malware scan, cloud immutability and air-gapped tape storage, try the full-featured Free Trial or upgrade to the Enterprise or Enterprise Essential edition.
Can I use multitenancy with NAKIVO Free Edition?
No, multitenancy is not available in the Free Edition. To create and manage multiple isolated environments, you can download the Free Trial or purchase the Enterprise or Enterprise Essentials edition. For MSPs, NAKIVO also offers dedicated MSP editions. What recovery options are available?
You can use the Flash VM Boot feature for smooth, near-instant full VM recovery by booting directly from compressed, deduplicated backups – no full restore required. Just select a recovery point and location to bring any VM online in seconds. For more targeted restores, perform granular recovery to instantly recover files or application objects from Microsoft SQL, Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange. For even tighter RPOs, Real-Time Replication continuously syncs a VM replica to a secondary site, allowing you to boot an up-to-date copy in the event of a disaster.
Are there any limitations when I use the Free Edition?
Yes. The Free Edition includes core features from the Pro Edition (excluding NAS Backup) and supports up to 10 workloads plus 5 Microsoft 365 users. However, Free Edition offers limited backup target options to a local folder or CIFS/NFS share, fewer automation capabilities and no disaster recovery orchestration available in the Enterprise Editions.
